Bansal has already set a few things in motion. He has
begun implementation of SAP for the company's inverter and UPS business. Then there is a CRM
application for the mobile business, as well as implementation of a barcode system to fore track
warranty of products. As group
CIO, he is keen to implement Microsoft Exchange for the entire company while improving on
unified communications.
Already having worn the hat of a CIO at Jubilant Organosys Limited, Bansal says, "My experiences
with introducing applications have made me aware of the problems they involve. I believe it will
help me carry out new
projects effectively as the group CIO of Luminous."
For Bansal, a bigger task ahead as the group
CIO is to upgrade applications that are not in pristine condition. He has been entrusted with
the responsibility of building a proficient team along with exploring newer business requirements,
assessing the IT needs of the company, and introducing viable solutions. Bansal is also looking at
an HR application that should take care of a few things, as well as group-wide implementation of
several business applications (which are presently in use at individual group companies).
